Anti-Ragging and POCSO Act Awareness Programme

An awareness programme on Anti-Ragging and the POCSO Act educated students on legal rights, responsibilities, and creating a safe campus environment.

An awareness programme on Anti-Ragging and the POCSO Act was successfully conducted on 31st January at the Seminar Hall, SHVITH. The programme was organized in association with the Student Nursing Association and the Youth Red Cross (YRC) with the objective of educating students about their rights, responsibilities, and legal protections.


The session was led by the resource person, Mr. Rayan Fernandez, who delivered an informative and engaging talk highlighting the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful educational environment. He emphasized the need to create awareness about anti-ragging laws and institutional policies to ensure a secure campus atmosphere.

The programme also focused on educating students about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, explaining its significance in safeguarding minors from sexual offences. The speaker highlighted the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals and ensuring strict legal action against offenders.

Further, the session addressed the responsibilities of students in preventing abuse and supporting victims. The importance of reporting incidents and standing against any form of harassment was strongly emphasized. Interactive discussions were held during the session, in which students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their views. Real-life examples and practical explanations made the session more impactful, relatable, and easy to understand.

The awareness programme was highly informative and beneficial for students. It helped reinforce the importance of a safe, respectful, and supportive academic environment while promoting awareness of legal provisions and student responsibilities.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the resource person and the organizing committee. The session successfully achieved its objective of spreading awareness and encouraging students to contribute towards a safe and harassment-free campus.
