World Radiography Day

Niramaya College of Allied Health Sciences, Bantakal, Udupi, in association with Ambalpady Medical Centre (Scan Centre), celebrated World Radiography Day on 8th November 2023 at the Niramaya Institute of Health Sciences. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Healthcare Heroes,” highlighting the invaluable contributions of radiographers in modern healthcare.

The program commenced with an invocation, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. Swathi, Lecturer, Niramaya College of Allied Health Sciences. The event was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment.

The distinguished chief guests for the event were Mrs. Vasanthi R Prabhu, Retired Senior Radiographer, KMC Manipal, and Dr. Rajashekar Bellur, Former Dean of Manipal College of Health Professions. They were felicitated in recognition of their contributions to the field. The Guest of Honour, Shri Rathnakumar, along with other dignitaries, including Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat and Dr. Flavia Castelino, graced the occasion.

An insightful scientific session was conducted, emphasizing advancements in radiographic imaging and the critical role of radiographers as frontline healthcare professionals.

As part of the celebration, various student competitions were organized to encourage creativity and awareness. These included:

• Poster Making on the theme Healthcare Heroes
• Model Making based on radiographic modalities
• Cartooning focused on public awareness of radiographic imaging

Students actively participated and showcased their talents. Winners were recognized and awarded during the prize distribution ceremony.

The introduction of the chief guests and the vote of thanks were delivered by Mrs. Jonsi Johnson, Assistant Professor, Niramaya College of Allied Health Sciences, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers for making the event successful.

The event concluded with the National Anthem.
